I am not giving up on Ron Paul
I have some friends that are giving up on Dr. Paul. I was going to head down that road myself. Well this is my official statement that I am going to stay with my heart and head. I am going to vote for Paul no matter what. I can not vote for a man because I do not like the opposition. That is like drinking stricken because you do not want arsenic.
I think this is from when he was still running, dude. He’s already pulled out. He’s not a candidate anymore.
But aside from that, I think he’s wrong as well. He’s asked how to solve the energy crisis and he answers, “Price. Let the free market handle it.”
I think this is the wrong answer. The free market will remain on oil for as long as it can—as long as it’s cheap—and it will NOT nudge us towards alternatives like wind and solar. If we do that alternatives will only become viable after we’ve completely exhausted our supplies of oil and gas.
That’s not a good strategy—to just wait until the current system (a bad system) is too expensive. We need foresight on this; we need to actually PLAN. Planning requires government intervention of the free market, which Paul sees as a Holy entity. It think he’s too extreme in this area, and I think it hurts him quite a bit as a complete candidate.
I’m 100% behind him on the fiat money system concept, and the problems with the Fed, and that fact that candidates don’t talk about substance because the parties are essentially identical, etc. I just think his views are too extreme and that they will not do well under the weight of reality.
In short, the free market is like nature, and you don’t just let nature roam free. You have to put some controls on these things or they WILL hurt you.
That’s my current view on it. Thoughts?
